About Me

Wood with a story...

Whenever possible, he works with reclaimed local wood - honoring its character, history, and imperfections.

Barry Richardson’s path to woodworking began long before his first studio - back in rural Missouri, where the wooded canopy was his playground, his refuge, and his constant source of wonder...

That early connection to timber and texture stayed with him through a career of service with the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, and eventually became the foundation for his life’s creative work.

After retiring from the Teams, Barry pursued making in earnest, building on the skills, tools, and discipline he’d collected over the years. His designs draw from a deep well of experience - global travel, the movement of marine life, and the quiet intelligence of nature.

Whether he’s shaping artistic furniture, carving sculptural forms, or turning vessels that invite touch, Barry approaches each piece with patience, precision, and respect for the material.

“Artistic furniture, sculpture, carving, and turning are my focus areas for design and creation. I use reclaimed local wood whenever possible.”
